Legitimate Online Money Making Opportunities

April 14, 2008

I have a lot of freetime on my hands once I put my son down for bed. I’m usually either writing for Associated Content or surfing the internet for money making opportunities. I’ve done a lot of research about different websites that offer money for surveys, reading e-mails, playing games, and what-not, and I’ve put together a list of my favorites. I promise you that these websites are legitimate and a lot of them even offer payments via paypal. Here, I will list all of them with a short description and a link to the website. I will also list how much money I’ve earned this month (April 2008) from each of them.

Each month (or maybe every other week), I will update this blog with my current earnings at that time.

You are under no obligation to join any of these websites. I am simply listing them to help those out who wish to make a little extra money on the side. Keep in mind, you must be 13 or older to join them, and it would be smart to open a paypal account (http://www.paypal.com). You only have to open a free account but most of these websites deposit the money directly into that account and from their you can request a check. A few of these websites will send you a check directly instead of through paypal.

If you happen to notice a mistake in this list or know of any other good websites that offer you money, please send me an e-mail at empression@gmail.com.

Site Name: Lazzeo
My Earnings: $5.42
Join Here: http://lazzeo.com/signup?friend=empress
If you’re into MySpace, you will love Lazzeo. It’s extremely similar to MySpace, however, you earn money on the website. You can place your own Google Adsense ads to the website to earn money and you earn money from referring friends. Also, if you sign up for a gold membership, you will receive 15% of the entire websites revenue. If you sign up for a VIP membership, you will earn 85% of the sites revenue.

Site Name: Associated Content
My Earnings: $17.64
Join Here: http://www.associatedcontent.com/join.html?refer=112400
If you like to write, this website was made for you. AC is a website that offers money to it’s members for each and every article they submit. I usually earn an average of $3.00 per 400-word article plus performance payments. Performance payments are based on the amount of page views you receive for each article. You get $1.50 for every 1,000 page views. It doesn’t seem like a lot, but if you use the right keywords and write articles that appeals to a large audience, those views will climb quickly. All of your articles appear in the Google search engine which gives you an even better opportunity of receiving a large amount of page views.

Site Name: Cash Crate
My Earnings: $5.67
Join Here: http://cashcrate.com/551229
Cash Crate is a website that offers money for completing surveys, joining different survey sites (that also pay), and they pay you for referring other members. Not to mention, each time your referrals make a certain amount of money, you get 10% of their earnings. This is a great site for people who enjoy surveys.

Site Name: Fusion Cash
My Earnings: $8.00
Join Here: http://www.fusioncash.net/?ref=empression
Fusion Cash is similar to Cash Crate, however, they offer even more money for your referrals. You fill out surveys and join other websites to earn a pretty decent amount of money. This is another good website for those who enjoy taking surveys.

Site Name: Gangster Greed
My Earnings: $3.98
Join Here: http://www.gangstergreed.com?ref=57700
Gangster Greed is a website that pays you to fill out surveys, sign up for other websites, and also pays you for your referrals. Once again, it’s similar to Cash Crate and Fusion Cash, but it has a smaller amount of survey opportunities available compared to the other two.

Site Name: Inbox Dollars
My Earnings: $5.63
Join Here: http://www.inboxdollars.com/?r=empressive
Inbox Dollars is a website that not only pays you for inviting friends, filling out surveys, signing up for other sites, but it also pays you to simply read e-mails. I’ve had great success with this website. I’ve been a member for quite some time now and I would definitely recommend them to anyone and everyone looking for a little extra cash on the side.

Site Name: Snap Dollars
My Earnings: $6.78
Join Here: http://www.snapdollars.com/index/empressive
Snap Dollars is a website that automatically pays you $5.00 just for signing up. You also get paid $5.00 for each friend you refer, get 25 tickets entered into their sweepstakes, and 10% of whatever the referred person makes. Not to mention, they also pay you for completely surveys and other offers. This site is another one of my favorites.

Site Name: Treasure Trooper
My Earnings: $10.12
Join Here: http://www.treasuretrooper.com/390218
Treasure Trooper is a website that offers you money for completing offers, taking surveys, completing their own simple profile surveys, and for referring friends. They also give you “coins” that you can redeem for prizes such as an XBox 360 or an I-Pod. From what I’ve heard, this website gives out the most amount of money compared to any other survey site currently on the internet. A plus!

Affiliate Income

September 14, 2006

Affiliate programs sometimes make you feel that you will be rich the next day if you start pushing their products, but you should know that is not the case. If you decide to start being an affiliate, you have to realize it will be hard work that might pay off and might not.

Starting a blog on the specific product is a great to way to try and get buyers but it won’t always work, espeically if you can’t get traffic to it. Using Google’s Adwords can backfire big time if and when you spend much more on advertising fees than you make back on your commissions.

Creating a specific website on your own, pushing the product is one of the best ways and that is what most people do. However it is really hard now to make money in most affiliate programs because they are extremely saturated.

Type in dental plans in any search engine and you are likely to see lots of people pushing AmeriPlan or Dentalplans.com. It is hard to get a foot in the door, especially if these sites have been up for years and are more loved by the search engines than your new site or blog.

The only way to make money doing this is to try new things and don’t stop the hard work. It’s also best to find a small niche that not many people are selling.

The Google Traffic Diet

May 27, 2006

Google has dropped new guidelines for it’s search results and once again webmasters are hopping mad. They feel that they will be dropped in the search results and lose income especially from adsense and other affiliate programs.

The point is that if you are not doing the questionable practices that Google forbids why get angry? If Google and any other company online and off didn’t make changes then the bad seeds can worm their way in and do fraud or worse simply because they figured out different ways to pull it off.

Some of the new changes include:

  • Avoid “doorway” pages created just for search engines, or other “cookie cutter” approaches such as affiliate programs with little or no original content.
  • If your site participates in an affiliate program, make sure that your site adds value. Provide unique and relevant content that gives users a reason to visit your site first.
  • Simple and to the point.

    About Affiliate Programs

How to get your web pages to pay for themselves: Affiliate Programs
    by Thomas Baurley

I’m a age-old member of the affiliate program scheme … though over the course of the last several years have let them drop and now realize many of my older web pages are junk-filled full of old invalid codes. Who knows if any of those companies owe me anything or not because living a nomadic life, I am really bad keeping up with address changes and signing in. So in my honest opinion, sometimes affiliate programs are more work than they are worth. Though I remember when I ran a movie review website (todaysmovies.com), I used to get over $100/month from a movie link page Reel.com (the precurser of netflix) that would allow people to rent movies online, but they died, and Netflix jumped on the idea. I think Reel.com no longer does affiliate programs. At least I couldn’t find it anymore. Same thing with CDNOW. But it appears to have been bought out by Amazon. So where did the affiliate programs go? You snooze, you lose. I did make quite a bit from Amazon.com referrals, but then they changed their payment policies. The big key, is to make sure you keep up with it, passing on your contact information, and updating, and keeping your links and referral codes active. Also make sure you have relevant information that will link into their pages. Of course Google’s AdSense is a big one these days that is pretty popular. A Good resource for finding affiliate programs for your pages is affiliateguide.com. I also use www.darkblue.com. They have an assortment of affiliates to choose from and you only have to register through them. Hotelclub.com is also a pretty nifty group. I’m going to get back into them and I’ll post here when I find anything spectacular that works well. Good luck!

    Making Money With Amazon

    March 29, 2006

Making money with your blog or website is all about multiple streams of income. You don’t want to just have AdSense. You want to include affiliate programs, other kinds of ads, joint ventures and more to keep the money pouring in.

One way to get a little more money out of your site is through the Amazon Affiliates program. A quick sign up and approval of your site allows you to log in to a special page at Amazon where you can pick products you want to promote on your site.

The great thing about this program is that you can post anything you want that Amazon sells. If you’ve got a cooking blog, add ads for cookware and cookbooks. Love sports? Promote sporting goods products. If you’re an uber-nerd, set up ads for computer programs and hardware.

You can build the links into the text of your blog (say, when you recommend a book or product) or have graphic ads for products with “buy now” buttons. These are then linked to your account and you’re paid a percentage of the sale (including any other items that person buys in the same trip) on a quarterly basis.

Percentages vary depending on the fee structure you choose and the type of item. They usually range from four percent to as high as 7.5 percent for super affiliates. You probably won’t make huge money from this program, but every little bit helps.

    Money-Making Methods for Bloggers

    March 16, 2006

ProBlogger Darren Rowse has made a list of 8 (direct) ways bloggers can earn money. Here’s a summary:

    1. Advertising

There are many ad options: Contextual Ads, Other CPC Advertising, Impression-based Ads, Blog Ads, Text Ads, RSS Ads, and more.

    2. Sponsorship

The key if you’re going to take this approach is to target advertisers in your niche that have products that closely relate to what you’re writing about.

    3. Affiliate Programs (Amazon, Linkshare, Commission Junction, Clickbank…)

Affiliate programs take some work if you want to get the most out of them (perhaps more work than advertising) but can be lucrative if you match the right program with the right blog/topic.

    4. Selling/Flipping Blogs

…in reality [this] is not something that is overly common…yet

    5. Donations and Tip Jars

Most bloggers just don’t have the critical mass or the cult following to make [this] work.

    6. Merchandise

[This] will probably only work if you either have a brilliantly designed merchandise range and/or you have a cult-like status as a blogger with some fanatical readers who are a little obsessive about your blog

    7. Selling Subscriptions

To make it succeed you would need to have some sort of premium/exclusive content and/or real expertise on a topic.

    8. Blog Networks

You can start a network and contract bloggers to write for you or secondly you might like to join a blog network as a writer.

Text Ads Out, Video Clicks In?

    January 10, 2006

Almost 1 year old Revver offers users a chance to make money by uploading their videos. At the end of your video will be an ad and if anyone clicks on it you make a cut of money. They also have an affiliate program and bloggers can make money by featuring videos on their blog and if anyone clicks on the ad the affiliate will make 20% from that click.

The videos are using the oh so popular tags for easier searching, and if anyone takes the video and posts it all over the internet the ad stays with it, so you continue to make money off the clicks no matter where your video ends up. Revver seems like they can be around for a while. I do wonder, has anyone created blogs around this, a video blog featuring the different videos? Let’s wait and see I guess.

    Chitika’s Mini-Malls Reviewed at ProBlogger

    September 30, 2005

During the past few weeks, Darren Rowse has been beta-testing a new ads format for Chitika’s mini-malls.

It seems so far like an interesting revenue, albeit still in its first stage, and thus lacking certain tracking functions useful to properly analyze and optimize one’s ads placement. As a little “bonus”, you can also check Rachel’s testimonial, who started using Chitika’s mini-malls after having read Darren’s entry.

In any case, don’t hesitate to head out to ProBlogger to read his great review. It made me consider it myself, although I’m not sure yet on which of my blogs I could test it.
