How to boost blog rankings in search engines

Blogging is a very popular hobby and the possibility of making money through blogs has made it a serious money making venture.

The most obvious way to make money through blogs is by placing ads in the blogs. Google’s AdSense program places ads in blogs with the blog owner getting ad revenue when reader’s click on the ads while reading the blog. Success of this venture however depends on the blog turning up at the top on search engine rankings.

The process of attaining higher search engine ranking depends on keyword optimization. Keyword optimization means using strong and relevant keywords, preferably one keyword per article and using that phrase repeatedly in the blog entry but not too much. Search Engine Watch defines keywords as “a word or phrase entered into a search engine in an effort to get the search engine to return matching and relevant results.”

An optimal keyword density is around 5 percent, or in other words, every fifth word being a keyword. An important point to consider is to have content worth viewing or reading and place the keywords in such worthy content. Good content ensures that people have a reason to be in the blog and keywords ensure people aere directed to your blog. Only a combination of both will prosper. One without the other is worthless in the world of blogs.
