Keeping tabs on your traffic exchange provider

When you are trying to drive traffic to your blog, it is known that bloggers can do some pretty crazy things like buying people to come to your web site. However, if you do buy traffic in this manner you will want to monitor how many people click on your link to visit your site so that you can make sure that you are getting your money’s worth! Here’s an example why you should do this monitoring. I bought 10000 visitors worth of traffic for my blog about two weeks ago. As soon as the visitors began rolling in I saw that I was getting about 200 a day from this certain service (this is excluding my already loyal readers). In a few days I check the traffic site’s statistics panel and notice that according to them, 2000 people have visited my web site through their program. This was after three days of getting 200 more visitors each day from this service. I could tell the service was lying (you do not overstate visitor statistics by 1400), so I promptly left the site. It was the best decision I ever made, as I moved on to greener pastures (better providers of traffic!).
