Chitika is known as one of the largest search targeting advertising networks whereas adsense is an advertisement application run by google.
Advertisements by adsense are text ads which fit into about 10 standard sizes whereas chitika also fit into same size but in every ad space there is image and some hybrid text which take the users to other page and information related to the link they clicked on. Adsense has certain restrictive terms and rules which every publisher has to follow and they need to stick to specified keywords to publish there ads this not applicable for chitika.
Adsense serves the ads based on context. Chitika offers the same but it also provides the option for turning off the context. Chitika can make you earn well but it has a different mindset as one has accustomed from adsense but a person if learns chitika well and then work upon it he can earn better as compared to adsense.
