Ebay Jumps On The Contexual Ad Bandwagon
June 14, 2006
Ebay is on the verge of launching their own contexual ads similar to Google’s Adsense and Yahoo’s YPN. The major difference is that it is not a pay per click program.
The program works like this, you are placing actual Ebay auction links on your site that would probably have some overall context to your blog or website itself, such as if you have a high heels blog, you would put up auctions on high heel shoes. If someone goes through the link on your site, bids and wins the auction you get a 35 to 60% cut of the profits.
I do think it’s a great idea, because millions visit Ebay everyday and buy and sell there. The one major problem is that because it is contextual ads you can’t use it if you already have up Adsense or Yahoo ads.
